Congratulations to all 11 students from GC who tried out for All-West Honor Band yesterday! These students have worked extremely hard to prepare their All-West music and should be commended for their efforts! These students are: Maddie Abbott, Zach Baker, Claire Buchanan, Aja Francis, Patrick Hill, Kaitlyn Kyle, Kelly Landrum, Johnathan Nevels, Taylor Pannell, Alexis Williams, and Ethan Yochum. They will all receive lettering credit for their efforts. Results should be finalized at the beginning of the week!
Jazz Band Begins Tomorrow! The Jazz Band will meet EVERY MONDAY (except holidays) from 3:15-4:30 in the band room. A more detailed schedule will be given to students tomorrow at the first rehearsal. Remember, students may not miss more than 2 rehearsals in order to receive lettering credit for jazz band.
TOMORROW NIGHT we have our final booster meeting before our 1st Annual Winter Guard Competition. The meeting is at 7 p.m. in the band room. Be there if at all possible. If not, rollact Kim Todd to get signed up to help with the event.
We still need some help with folks bringing food to supply our director's hospitality room this Saturday. See Kim's email from earlier this week to see what still needs to be brought.
We need EVERY band student to bring one (1) 12 pack of cans of either Pepis, Dr. Pepper, or Mt. Dew by THIS WEDNESDAY and place it under the band room table with your student's name on it to help offset our costs of this event.
The next to last Disney Trip payment is due to Thomas Tours by THIS WEDNESDAY! All trip accounts should be paid in full ($875) by February 15th! contact Thomas Tours ASAP if this is a problem.
Percussion Ensemble rehearsals will continue Tuesday and Thursdays from 5-7:30 in the band room. See the schedule emailed out last week for what specific section will be meeting this week!
The 12 students selected to participate in the UTM Honor Band Clinic should pay for his/her room ($52) by THIS FRIDAY!
We have our first Pep Band performance THIS FRIDAY NIGHT at the GC vs. Bradford game. The game begins at 6 p.m. Students will be expected to be int he band room @ 5:15 dressed in GC attire for a brief rehearsal before the game. Students will be dismissed at halftime of the boys game. This is a MANDATORY performance grade for all concert band members!
Our 1st Annual Winter Guard Competition will be held THIS SATURDAY @ GC! The first gruop performs at 2:30 p.m. and is expected to arrive around 12 noon. All concert band members will have to be there at 11:15 to help set up for the day! The attire for the day will be black polos and the student's choice of pants (jeans or khakis...no holes in jeans) with tennis shoes. Awards are at 7:34 and students will have to clean up the school before anyone is dismissed. Students will sign up for jobs for Saturday THIS WEEK! Any non-concert band member is welcome to come to the show and help but they MUST be signed up for a job or they will be REQUIRED to pay the $8 admission price. This is a MANDATORY performance grade for all concert band members. Thanks in advance for your help with this event.
