Announcements:
Mr. Tate currently has 2 contracts turned in to take lessons with Mr. Congiardo. We need 6 in order for it to be worth his while in travel to teach lessons here at GC. If your student is planning to take private lessons, get your contract in ASAP so we can get him started with your child sooner rather than later! Remember this is a VERY VALUABLE tool when it comes to chair placement in the high school band, making All-West, honor band, and get money for doing band in college. Contracts are available via an email sent out last week or they also can be found on the band room table.
Fruit/Nut orders + money are due TOMORROW! Each student was asked to sell at least $60 in product or get $30 in donations. We hope everyone has done his/her part so we end our fundraisers for this year! Remember there are cash prizes for the top 3 sellers! Orders will be delivered the week of December 1st and pick-up will be whatever day they are delivered until 5:00 pm. We will keep you updated as to what day we are expecting the order once the order has been placed.
A Jostens representative will be in band class at 1:30 THIS TUESDAYto fit students for rings and collect deposits! The form that was emailed out this past week will need to be completed BEFORE class time and accompanied with the deposit on Tuesday. He will measure each student's finger on Tuesday. Remember if an 8th grader wants a ring, he/she needs to be sized by a professional jeweler BEFORE Tuesday and be sure that Mr. Brockman or Ms. Evans has the order form with the deposit on Tuesday so they can deliver it to the Jostens rep. when they come to the high school.
Championship T-shirt orders + money are due THIS THURSDAY! Remember students will receive a shirt for FREE thanks to the school board!
A sign-up sheet will be posted on the office window this week for UT Martin Honor Band and All-West. Students must sign-up if they intend on attending either of these events. All-West music along with recordings of the music can be found via a link on the bands website at https://sites.google.com/site/gchsmarchingpioneers/Home/fun-things. Students must be enrolled in both marching and concert bands in order to participate.
Students should be practicing his/her Christmas Concert Music along with preparing their final exams (scales) because their grade for the remainder of this semester is based on playing tests that we have in class and 25% of their grade for the entire semester is based on their final exam.
Progress reports for all classes went home last week! Be sure you sign each of them and send them back with your student to turn in to each of his/her teachers!
Upcoming Dates:
November 26th-28th - Thanksgiving Break! NO SCHOOL!
Thursday, December 4th - Championship Steak Dinner - 6:30 pm - First Assembly of God Dyer Fellowship Hall. This meal is only for our students. Parents are welcome to attend and help serve but the meal will only be for the students. Students will have to RSVP this week so we know how many steaks we need to order.
Saturday, December 6th - Dyer Christmas Parade - 5:00 - Students will have to be at the Tri City Reporter dressed in full uniform at 4:15.
Sunday, December 14th - County Wide Christmas Concert - 2:00 - GCHS Theatre - Students will have to be there dressed in "concert attire" at1:15. Concert attire is NO JEANS, TSHIRTS, TENNIS SHOES, SHORTS, ETC. The high school's portion of the concert will begin around 3:00. Students will have to move all equipment back to the band room before they are dismissed. There will be a booster meeting immediately following the concert in the theatre.
Monday, December 15th - Band Final Exam begins!
Friday, December 19th - School dismisses at 11:30 for Christmas Break! Have a great week!
