Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the teams/pep band this past Friday night vs. Union City!
Mr. Congiardo will have his final lesson with students TOMORROW unless at least 6 students want to continue to take private lessons. If your student wants to continue taking lessons make sure that he/she lets me or Mr. Congiardo know TOMORROW! If your student did not get the chance to take lessons the first time around this is a great time for he/she to start! Have your student communicate with me if they want to start taking lessons with Mr. Congiardo. Remember 6 completed lessons = lettering credit and lessons make each student a better musician which ultimately makes our entire band better!
Jazz Band will meet MONDAY from 3:15-4:30.
Our next Pep Band game will be THIS TUESDAY (24th) vs. Greenfield! This is a MANDATORY performance for all concert band members! We will meet at 5:15 and the girls game will start at 6:00 followed by the boys game. Students will need to be dressed in GC attire for the game.
Since there is a Pep Band game on Tuesday, Percussion Ensemble will be CANCELED on Tuesday and the FULL ENSEMBLE will meet on THURSDAY from 5 until 7.
Brass Ensemble will meet on Thursday of this week from 3:15-4:30.
We should hear from the University of Memphis the first part of this week as to who was selected to participate in the University of Memphis Honor Band to be held next week in Memphis! For those selected, room money will be due NEXT MONDAY! Remember any student that is selected parents will be expected to drive to Memphis on the 4th to provide transportation to your child after the concerts as no transportation will be available back to the school!
Those selected to participate in the All-West Honor Band Clinic should be practicing his/her music so they are prepared for the clinic to be held in a couple of weeks in Memphis!
UT Martin Honor Band students will leave at 10:15 am on Thursday! They will need have their bags packed and ready to load the bus at that time. Students will need money for 5 meals + money to purchase snacks at Wal-Mart. Students will just need school clothes for Thursday and Friday. They will need concert attire (black & white) for Saturday. Students will perform their concerts on Saturday. A detailed itinerary was given to your student last week. Parents can pick up their student immediately following their concert. You will then need to travel to the hotel to pick-up their luggage.
Solo & Ensemble will be held at North Side HS in Jackson on Saturday, March 4th! All students are encouraged to participate. We will be picking our solos and ensembles in band class over the next week. All students who participate are required to pay $10 per event registered. Remember in order to receive lettering credit for the event your student MUST receive a I (1 - Superior) rating on SOLOS ONLY! Be sure you communicate with your child if you want him/her to participate. We will take a bus from the high school that morning or students can provide their own transportation to the event.
Mrs. Jennifer Cox has graciously agreed to continue our tradition of having a band memory book. It's that time of year to order them. You might ask what is a band memory book? It is kind of like a "band year book". In this book you will find pictures from band camp, football games, competitions, pep band, and concerts. It's something that you child will want to share with their children. The cost of the book is $40 with the option of adding a DVD (shown at the band banquet) for $10. An order form is attached to this email. This order form along with a $15 deposit is due NO LATER THAN NEXT TUESDAY, JANUARY 31ST! Memory Books will be distributed at the Band Banquet in May. Balances will be due a few weeks prior to the banquet.
