Announcements:
Thanks to everyone who traveled up the Union City Contest on Saturday! The kids had a great run in finals on Saturday night and got a lot great comments from the judges on things to work on in the coming days/weeks! This was probably one of the toughest if not the toughest line up of bands that we will compete against all year and our kids did a great job!
A special thanks to Jennifer Lowrance and all those who helped her feed the kids yesterday or helped by donating food to feed the kids! I know the kids sure did appreciate it!
Thanks to everyone who did his/her part in the selling of Braided Bread! Orders will be delivered for pick-up on October 15th.
Boston Butts orders + money are due THIS THURSDAY! Orders will need to be picked up at ~8am on the day of our contest (September 30th). Order form is attached.
DRINKS FOR OUR COMPETITION ARE DUE THIS WEDNESDAY! Each student is asked to bring at least 2-12 packs of Pepsi products depending on your students grade level. Be sure their names are on the drinks and they are placed under the table in the band room. Thanks to all those who have already brought in your drinks!
Parent/Teacher Conference is this Wednesday (3:15-6:15) and Thursday (3:15-6:15)! I highly encourage each of you to make time to go and talk with your child's teachers so you can see how they are doing in their classes. Be involved in your student's education! Because of rehearsal on Thursday I will be unavailable for conference until after 5:00. I will be conducting my conference in my science room (221) if you need to come speak with me but for the most part I see most of you at games and competitions so if I had a problem with your child you would have had a conversation with me by now but you are still more than welcome to stop by and see me if you wish.
On Thursday night the band will play at the bonfire pep rally that will take place beside the vocational building immediately following the championship powder-puff game. We will meet at 7:15 in regular school attire in the band room. Students will be dismissed as soon as the pep rally is over.
This Friday there is NO SCHOOL!
Friday night is Homecoming against West Carroll @ 7:00! Homecoming Festivities will begin at 6:30. Students must be dressed in full uniform and in their seats at 5:30.
Saturday's contest is at Arlington! We will meet at 1:30 for rehearsal. The contest schedule was sent out via remind and our exact itinerary is attached to the email. Ride home forms for the contest are due NO LATER than this Friday @ 3:00 pm! The admission price for the contest is $8 for anyone over 4. All 4 and under are admitted for free.
Our contest at Gibson County is less than two weeks away! We are still in need of a lot of help. If you have not already volunteered and would like to help in any capacity at the competition please contact Kim Todd and she will get you plugged in.
Our competition is our largest fundraiser of the year. Students will be asked to be at the high school around 8:00 am the day of the competition. They will not be released to leave until 11 or 12 that night. Students will be dressed during the day in their black polos, khaki shorts or pants, and tennis shoes. They will need everything to perform at the end of the preliminary competition in full uniform. The boosters will feed them pizza after prelims. It's a full day and it takes EVERYONE to pull it off! I have attached a copy of the schedule for the day so you what's going on if you're with a band helping out.
ATTN SENIORS AND SENIOR PARENTS: The deadline for senior state scholarships is OCTOBER 1ST! They must be postmarked by this day! There is a lot of FREE money to be had here so I highly encourage each senior to advantage of this great opportunity!
