Thanks to everyone who came out and the supported the Percussion Section at their 2nd annual Car/Truck/Bike Show this past Saturday!
Students will sign-up for contest jobs and hotel rooms for State TOMORROW during band class.
Don't forget that the drinks for the contest are due TOMORROW! Put your student's name on them and place them in the band room under the table. I will be theretomorrow night until 8 pm with the percussion section if you want to bring your child's drinks then. We will order drinks on Tuesday so be sure we have them there TOMORROW!
SENIORS: STATE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS + AUDITION VIDEOS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY THIS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1ST! I will have my recommendation letters ready on Tuesday.
The next band fee payment of $30 is due on or before THIS WEDNESDAY, October 1st! Make every effort to make this payment on time so we will have money to start the contest day Saturday.
Color Guard warm-ups should be in at any time now! Unless your guard member has paid for their warm-up they will not receive it. Jackets are $47.20 and the pants are $28. If they are a new then this amount goes toward their guard fee. If they are an old girl then this amount is in addition to their guard fee.
Our contest is THIS SATURDAY! We are expecting between 5-6000 people at our contest on Saturday! We need your help! Students will be expected to be in their seats at 7:00 am on Saturday morning dressed in polos, khaki shorts, and tennis shoes. The first band arrives around 7:30 with the gates to the stadium opening around 8. The students will be expected to work the ENTIRE DAY! Students will perform at the end of the preliminary competition and then get back to work during finals. Students will be presenting trophies at the end of prelims and at the end of finals depending on who the sponsor of the trophy designated who they wanted to present. The weather is forecasted to be PERFECT! The high is 70 and the low is 50 with sunny skies and NO RAIN! It will be a long day but also a great day to show everyone how we do it here at Gibson County! Finals awards should wrap up around10:30 and then students will be expected to clean the campus and put everything back the way that it was at the beginning of the day. We will feed the kids any leftover concession stand food after the clean-up process is over. Students should be ready to leave some time around midnight! Students will be fed pizza after their prelims awards in the cafeteria. If they are running a finals band then they will need to eat quickly! "Infected" students will begin make-up at 3:15. At that time they will report to the band room at 3:15. Non-infected band members will need to be dressed and ready for warm-up right outside the band room at 3:45. If they are running a band prior to that time they will need to arrange to dress before then. ALL BAND MEMBERS MUST BE PRESENT FOR WARM-UP! There is an adult who is assigned to each band that will be in charge of that band once the students have to leave to report for make-up and/or warm-up. Remember this is our chance to show everyone how WE run a contest. Try and be helpful. If you don't know the answer try and find someone who does. We don't have a perfect campus but we do have a GREAT bunch of parent/students/and band family that can pull off a great conteston Saturday!
With 27 bands performing on Saturday we need EVERY SINGLE PARKING PLACE we can find. I ask that you please car pool to the contest and EVERYONE needs to park at the equine center located behind the high school the morning of the contest. It will be tight so please ride with someone if possible!
Remember if you sold Boston Butts that they will be available for pick-up between 7 and 8 amthe morning of the contest! Make arrangements now as to what you will do with your butts that morning because we need all of the grill space possible to cook for the contest!
