Congratulations to Lady Pioneers on a terrific season! A record of 37-1 is nothing to hang your head about!
A BIG THANK YOU to each member of the pep band who volunteered to make the trip to Murfreesboro on any of the three days of the tournament! A special thanks to Mrs. McMinn who filled in for me yesterday as we celebrated my daughter's 2nd birthday.
Thanks to all those who came out last Monday night for our concert! It was a great crowd with a night filled with great music!
Since we were out of school on Friday, ALL GATLINBURG TRIP HEALTH FORMS MUST BE TURNED IN TO MRS. MCMINN TOMORROW!
Each concert band student will receive a permission form tomorrow for each of his/her teachers sign in order to go to concert festival on Friday. These forms MUST be turned back in to me no later than Tuesday at 3:15. If a student does not turn in a permission form signed by all of their teachers then they will not be able to attend the event on Friday!
Jazz Band will meet TOMORROW from 3:15-4:30 in the band room!
Fall 2016 Color Guard Clinic #2 will take place TOMORROW from 3:30-5:00 in the main gym! If you know of someone who was not able to attend the last clinic, they MUST attend this clinic in order to audition for the Fall 2016 Color Guard!
Due to the basketball tournament, midterm exams will take place THIS Tuesday (1st and 3rd blocks) and Wednesday (2nd and 4th blocks). Midterms are worth 20% of your student's grade for this nine weeks so be sure that they are prepared! We do NOT have a midterm in concert band.
Fall 2016 Battery Audition Clinic #1 will take place THIS TUESDAY from 5-7 in the band room! Anyone in grades 8-11 interested in auditioning for the drumline for the fall must attend the audition clinics!
There is a rehearsal scheduled after school for this Thursday on the spring calendar. We will NOT have this rehearsal on Thursday.
Concert Festival is THIS FRIDAY @ Liberty Tech HS in Jackson! We will meet at 7:55 in the band room for a brief rehearsal. We will load the buses at 9:00 for immediate departure to Liberty. We will arrive at the fast food restaurants in Jackson around 10:15 for an early lunch due to buses having to be back before school is out to run their afternoon routes. We will eat from 10:15-11:00. We will arrive at Liberty at 11:15. We will then use the restroom and report to warm-up at 11:35. Our performance time is at NOON if you are in the area and would like to stop by and listen. We will then go into the sight reading room (NO PARENTS IN HERE PLEASE!), take a picture, and then go back into the auditorium to listen to a couple of the other bands. Students will need money for lunch! We will load the bus at 1:30 to head back to GC and/or leave for Gatlinburg. Students going on the Gatlinburg trip will be riding the charter bus the day of the event. Students not going on the Gatlinburg trip will ride regular school buses the day of the event. The attire for the day is black and white ONLY! Guys will be issued a tie this week that they must wear as part of their attire. All attire must be school appropriate.
Good luck to the winter guard as they compete in their Championship Show this Saturday in Nashville!
Seniors need to get their pictures to Mrs. Kim Todd to be included in the Band Banquet DVD ASAP! You can send them electronically (preferred) or send them in an envelope to school and give them to Henry. Be sure names are on the backs of each picture.
