Thanks to everyone who lined the streets of Trenton at the Teapot Parade this past Saturday! The kids did a great job! I hope many of you will plan to line the streets of Humboldt this Friday to help cheer on this great group of students one more time!
Thanks to all those who made the band banquet possible this past Friday night! What a wonderful night to recognize our wonderful students and look back at the GREAT year that we have had!
Parade Band Rehearsal for Tuesday has been cancelled! We will rehearse ONLY on Thursday of this week from 3-5.
Senior Exams are this Wednesday (3rd & 4th block) and Thursday (1st & 2nd blocks)!
THIS FRIDAY IS THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL IN HUMBOLDT! The parade begins at 10:00 on Main Street. We will meet at 8 in the band room for immediate departure to Humboldt. All students need to plan to arrive in Humboldt and change IMMEDIATELY into uniform so the truck can move to the end of the parade route. We are the last band in the parade and then students will have a chance to eat lunch along the parade route before we depart for St. Louis. This weekend will be our seniors last performances so I hope many of you plan to make the trip to Humboldt and to St. Louis to send off our seniors on a good last note!
We will leave Humboldt for St. Louis. You guys have raised enough money through your fundraising/donation efforts to cover each of the students' meals while on the trip! Each student will get $10-15/meal while we are on the trip. Students will only need money if they will eat more than this or if they want to purchase souvenirs while we on the trip. The game will be nationally televised on FOX on Saturday beginning at 3:05 pm. Students can be checked out after the game but a ride home form MUST be turned in no later than THIS THURSDAY. Forms are attached to this email. The itinerary for the trip will be as follows:
Friday, May 12th:
8:00 am - Meet for immediate departure to Humboldt for the parade
10:00 am - Strawberry Festival Parade begins
~12 noon - Parade ends - Students each lunch at vendors along the parade route ($10/student provided by the boosters for lunch)
2:00 pm - Leave Humboldt for Cape Girardeau, MO (1 rest stop along the way)
5:00 pm - Stop in Cape Girardeau for dinner ($15/student provided by the boosters for dinner)
7:00 pm - Leave Cape Girardeau for our hotel in Chesterfield, MO (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/stlsh-springhill-suites-st-louis-chesterfield/)
9:30 pm - Arrive at the hotel (check-in)
10:30 pm - Curfew
Saturday, May 13th:
7:00 am - Wake-up and eat breakfast provided at the hotel
8:30 am - Load buses and depart for the St. Louis Zoo
9:00 am - Arrive at the St. Louis Zoo (general admission is FREE!)
11:30 am - Lunch at the Zoo (paid for by the boosters)
12:30 pm - Load buses to leave for Busch Stadium
1:00 pm - Arrive at Busch Stadium (security, dress, warm-up, rehearse)
2:30 pm - Take the field for the National Anthem
2:40 pm - National Anthem presented by the Gibson County Marching Pioneers!
2:45 pm - Depart field (change, load, and re-enter stadium)
3:05 pm - First pitch
~6:30 pm - Game ends (load buses, check-out)
~7:00 pm - Leave for Dyer, TN (dinner stop - $10/student provided by the boosters for dinner - plus a rest stop on the way home)
~11:00 pm - Arrive back at GCHS
If you are still in need of a ticket to the game contact me ASAP and I can get you in touch with folks who have some extras for sale for $55/ticket.
Remember all debts MUST be paid off in full for a senior to receive his/her diploma after graduation or a student who is not graduating to attend the 1st June rehearsal. If a student is not returning to band and has a debt, the debt will follow them until they graduate and diplomas will be held until the debt is paid in full.
Upcoming Dates:
Monday, May 15th - Band's Freshmen Orientation - 6:30 - Band Room - Any student leader who was announced at the banquet is REQUIRED to attend this event. They will have to be there at 6!
Thursday, May 18th - NEW YORK TRIP KICK-OFF MEETING! 6:00 pm - Library - Attendance is HIGHLY recommended for anyone even considering going on the trip.
Friday, May 19th - Graduation - 6:00 - Bo Booth Gymnasium - All non graduating concert band members are REQUIRED to play! They will need to be in their seats on the gym floor dressed in concert attire no later than 5:15!
May 23rd and 24th - Final Exams
May 24th - Last Day of School (1/2 day)
June 13, 20, 27 - June rehearsals - 6-9 pm - Attendance is REQUIRED for at least 2 out of the 3 rehearsals in order to secure a spot in next year's field show!
July 10-14 - Percussion/Guard Camp - 8:00-4:30 - Attendance is MANDATORY!
July 12-14 - Fundamentals Camp (FULL BAND!) - 8:00-11:30 - Attendance is MANDATORY!
July 17-21 - Full Band Camp - 8:00am-DARK - Attendance is MANDATORY!
