Announcements:
A BIG THANK YOU for all those who came out in the rain this past Friday to support our band seniors on Senior Night! What a great group of students and a great group of you showed up to support them on this special night!
Thanks to all those who made the trip up to Austin Peay this past Saturday! Our cheering section was AWESOME! Several of the judges commented on our parent support at the show! If you weren't able to make the trip, you missed the best performance of the season during finals last night! The students really put on a great show last night!
THIS IS STATE WEEK! This is always the week we work toward since the first note was played on this show back in May/June. It's an exciting time for the students, staff, and you the parents as you get all of the hard work that has been put into this show come to an end on Saturday at the Division I State Championships held in Murfreesboro!
Room Money for State is due TOMORROW ($49.10/students; $294.60/chaperone room)! We have to get the check to the hotel in advance so please send your money TOMORROW!
Fruit/Nut Sales begin TOMORROW! This is our 2nd largest fundraiser of the year behind our competition! If this fundraiser goes well it is very possible that we will not have to sale ANYTHING else for the rest of the school year! The only other fundraiser that we will have will be the "Stew Lunch" in the spring. Each student is asked to sell at least $75 worth of fruit/nuts or get $30 in donations. There will prizes of $100/$75/$50 for the top 3 sellers. All orders + money are due NO LATER THAN MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH!
On Tuesday we will rehearse in the stadium from 6-9 pm! Each student should have his/her polo on as their top layer of clothes so that everyone looks the same at rehearsal. We have asked several folks to come in and critique the band so it's VERY IMPORTANT that each student is present. Students will be dismissed after school so they can work on homework BEFORE rehearsal @ 6.
The final band fee payment of $30 is due THIS TUESDAY! If you have made all of your payments on time then this should complete your band fee payments. If you have more than one child in the band then you are exempt from this final payment.
On Thursday we will have a regular rehearsal in the stadium from 6-9 pm under the lights!
On Friday we will rehearse from 1:30 until 3:30 in the stadium. We will load from 3:30-4. We will depart GC @ 4:00 for Franklin/Murfreesboro with a police escort to the county line. I hope as many of you that can will be a part of the caravan as we leave GC! See attached itinerary for exact details for the weekend. If you are not able to travel up on Friday night then I hope you all plan to fill the stands on Saturday @ 1:30 to help cheer on the band! There are 26 bands competing in prelims (schedule attached) for 10 finals competition slots. Those slots will be announced right after the preliminary competition ends. Students will need money for four meals (1 on Friday, 2 on Saturday, and 1 on Sunday). All meals should be $5-10/each. Students will need to pack CONSERVATIVELY for a 2 day trip. Luggage storage on the bus is very limited so make sure your student ONLY takes the bare essentials for the weekend. Ride Home Forms are due no later than Thursday at 9:00 pm (end of rehearsal).
On Sunday students will wake up and eat breakfast. We will have a devotional service in one of the conference rooms at the hotel at 10. All of you invited to attend. We will have a local youth pastor that Mark Kilpatrick from Dyer has found to speak that morning. Immediately after the devotional service you can check our your child then or you can check them our when we get ready to leave the mall. We will likely have another police escort back in to Dyer from the Gibson County line if you would like to join the caravan!
