Announcements:
Thanks for all those who came out to the game this past Friday night! Hopefully you see some improvements in the show each time you see it.
Hopefully everyone enjoyed your Saturday off and got some much needed rest.
Drinks for the compeition are due TOMORROW! Each student is asked to bring at least two 12 packs of canned pepsi products to help offset the cost of our competition and ultimately make more money at the competition to be spent on these band kids. Please do your part and bring those in by 8:00 pm TOMORROW! Place them under the band room table with your child's name written on them.
The next band fee payment of $30 is due by THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1ST!
Senior State Scholarship Applications MUST be postmarked no later than THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1ST! NO EXCEPTIONS!
Friday night is football @ Halls. The band will NOT travel to this game to allow for set-up for our competition that night before Saturday.
Saturday is our BIG DAY!!! The Gibson County Marching Invitational will be THIS SATURDAY @ GCHS! We are still in need of lots of help for this event. We can NOT pull this event off without EVERYONE pitching in to help. If you have not volunteered to help please contact Kim Todd or Wendy Tate ASAP to get signed up to help. We are expecting over 1700 band students on our campus on Saturday which will probably translate into ~3000 spectators on top of that. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we need YOUR HELP!
Students will have to be in the band room dressed in polos, khaki shorts/pants, and tennis shoes @ 7:30 on Saturday morning. They need to have eaten breakfaster BEFORE they arrive! We will then prepare the campus for the competition before the first band arrive ~8-8:30. Students all have jobs that they are responsible for all day long. Students will have to be in uniform no later than 3:30 for warm-up. We perform in exhibition only at the end of the preliminary competition at 4:15. Students will then immediately present awards in the preliminary competition. Students will then be provided with pizza by the band boosters in the cafeteria. The finals competition begins at 7:00 pm and students will report back to their jobs. If their band did not make finals they will be expected to report to one of the two concession stands. Students will once again present awards at the end of finals (~10pm). Students will then have to return the campus to the way that we found it if not better at 7:30 that morning. Students will be dismissed after that point (~11-12 that night). The forecast as of today show mostly sunny with a high of 78 and a low of 53. It should be a great day for a competition!
Boston Butt orders must be picked up behind the vocational building between 7 and 8 am BEFORE the bands start arriving that morning!
