Announcements:
Thanks to all those who made payments on their debt this past week. Attached is an updated list with all those who paid marked off. Remember debt MUST be paid by the end of the semester in order for students to receive report cards, diplomas (for seniors), or to attend June rehearsals. This is a rule made by the administration not by the band staff. Take any concerns up with them if you have further questions.
Jazz Band will rehearse TOMORROW in the theatre from 3:15-4:30!
Pep Band Games possible every day this week! See pep band information section below...
All Concert Band members have a MANDATORY after school rehearsal THIS TUESDAY from 3:15-5:00 in the theatre! This rehearsal is part of the student's grade and all are EXPECTED to be there. If they are not they take the risk of not being allowed to perform at the concert or concert festival later in the month!
Percussion Ensemble rehearsal schedule for this week is still TBD. Stay tuned for an announcement from Tico as to when the percussion ensemble will rehearse.
The final payment for the Gatlinburg Trip is due THIS WEDNESDAY to Thomas Tours! The total trip cost is $385/student. Doughnut profit money should be to them by Wednesday. You can call them at 1-800-292-0470 to verify your remaining balance.
Each person (including adults) going on the Gatlinburg Trip in March must complete a copy of the attached medical form in order to go on the trip. THE FORM MUST BE NOTARIZED! The form MUST be turned in to me in the band office no later than Friday, March 11th! Anyone not completing in the medical form will NOT be allowed to get on the bus on March 18th!
Solo/Ensemble is THIS SATURDAY @ North Side HS in Jackson! Our performance block time is 10:00 am. All students need to be at North Side NO LATER THAN 9:30 to warm-up. Students can provide his/her own transportation or ride the bus that will be at the high school at 8:30 for immediate departure at 8:45 and will return after everyone is finished performing. Remember students MUST have his/her solo PERFORMANCE READY when Mr. Brockman/Mrs. McMinn/Myself hears your student this week or they will NOT be allowed to attend the event! Attire for the event is concert attire! Students must have a judge's copy of their music with measures numbered along with a judge's form (provided this week by me).
PEP BAND INFORMATION: (VERY IMPORTANT...PLEASE READ!)
BOTH OF OUR TEAMS WON THIS WEEKEND! This means each of the teams will be playing in the Regional Semi-final game: Monday for the girls and Tuesday for the boys! If the girls win tomorrow they will play again on Wednesday. If the boys win on Tuesday they will play again on Thursday.
I have divided the pep band (to help reduce cost) into 2 pep bands. See attachment as to who is in what band. The bands will alternate games as to who plays this week. Pep Band A will play tomorrow night and Pep Band B will play on Tuesday night. Depending on who wins what will depend on what night and what band will play next. NOTE: Due to instrumentation in some sections, some students are assigned to both bands.
If a band member is assigned to a pep band they are responsible for attending their assigned games this week! If for some reason they cannot attend that assigned game, they are responsible for finding a substitute from the other band that is not required to attend that particular game.
All band members (assigned or not assigned to that particular game) are welcome to attend and play but only those assigned to that particular game or substitutes for that game will be admitted for FREE! All other students will have to pay $5 to play at the game.
If/when either/both teams advance to the state tournaments, the students with the most attendance (per section in the band) at this week's games will be the students who will travel to the state tournaments in the coming weeks!
Stay tuned for additional information...
