Announcements:
Thanks to all of you who were able to attend the school assembly to recognize the band this past Friday in the gym!
Concert Band is in full swing. Students will begin to be tested over the music that we cover in class as part of their grade for the nine weeks so be sure as we cover something in class that they are practicing it at home. Their grade will also involve coming prepared with instrument, pencil, and music to class each day. Students have also received their scale sheets. Each student in marching band will be required to play a final exam of their 12 major scales memorized by the last week of school before Christmas Break. This grade makes up a huge portion of their grade for the semester and it also determines chair placement for the spring and plays a role in part assignments for next fall! Guard members will create a 2 minute routine using 2 types of equipment minimum for their final exam. If they play an instrument and are in the guard they have a choice as to which one they would like to do for their final exam.
Band Booster Meeting - TOMORROW NIGHT - 7:00 pm - Band Room - Come be a part!
Wednesday is your last day to get in on the ordering of the State DVDs from the videographer at state. Turn in an order form and your money no later than Wednesday so that we can mail all orders off Thursday morning! If you fail to turn it in by Wednesday you can still order from his website but you will have to pay shipping and paypal charge.
On Thursday, the school board will like to recognize the band at the beginning of their meeting. The meeting will be held in the Rutherford School Library beginning at 6:30 if you are able to attend. They will recognize the band at the beginning of the meeting so that you will not have to stay for the entire meeting. I hope as many of you that can will plan to attend the meeting!
On Fridays during class we will begin preparing for the Dyer Christmas Parade (I don't have a date or time on this). Students will need to prepare accordingly for the weather each Friday. Students will also need proper marching shoes each Friday for band class time.
Jostens will be offering a "State Championship Ring" to any band student interested in ordering one. The prices are (I think) $127.99 for a guy's ring and $120.99 for a girl's ring. I am still awaiting the final art work to send to you so you can see the ring design to see if this is something that you are interested in ordering for your student. The Jostens' representative will be in the band room at the beginning of band class time NEXT TUESDAY(18th) to allow students to order a ring and size their fingers. A $60 deposit will be due at that time of ordering. I will send the art work out as soon as I receive it from them.
Fruit/Nut orders + money are due NEXT MONDAY (17th)! Each student is asked to sell at least $60 in product or get $30 in donations. This could very possibly be our last fundraiser other than the stew if everyone gets out and does his/her part! Remember there are cash prizes for the top three sellers!
The students' gold medals should be in this week. T-shirt information should be coming soon. Students will all get a shirt for FREE! We will allow anyone who wants a shirt to order one at the cost that we are getting them. More information will be coming soon. The steak dinner date/time/location will be decided at tomorrow night's booster meeting!
At this point all band fees should be paid in full unless payment arrangements have been made! These amounts will be turned over to the office as a debt at Christmas Break if fees are not taken care of by then.
